To make this process as easy for you as possible, and to support us in meeting our supervisory obligations, we have partnered with Due Diligence Checking Ltd (DDC) to assist you in applying for your check. DDC are a registered body who work on behalf of 12,000 organisations. They will contact you to explain the process and obtain the information and payment required. They will then apply for the check on your behalf and supply the necessary information to us.

More information is available on the DDC website, but please note that you do not need to take any action until you receive full instructions from DDC.

This is the only method by which we are able to accept your certificate: please do not apply via an alternative process or send it to us directly.

Processing your Basic Disclosure Certificate

DDC will provide details of your Basic Disclosure Certificate to us.

  • If the document is “clear” and shows no records of convictions, DDC will relay this information to us. We will update our systems and you will not need to send anything or contact us.
  • If the document has records of convictions, cautions, reprimands or warnings, DDC will attempt to contact you to confirm that the information is correct prior to relaying it to us. You will have the opportunity to dispute the content if you wish and you should advise us if you intend to do so. Once DDC has relayed the information to us, we may request to see your certificate, after which it will be returned to you.

If you already have a Basic Disclosure Certificate

The only exception to following the above process is if you already have a Basic Disclosure Certificate that has been issued within the past three months. If this applies to you, please call us on +44 (0)20 3735 2418, 09.00–17.00, Monday to Friday, or email us on and we will advise if you are able to send it to us directly. We can only accept the original copy and we are not permitted to accept Enhanced Disclosure Certificates in any format.
