AAT has been named Employer Newcomer of the Year by social mobility charity The Brokerage. The organisation received its award from the Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Charles Bowman at a celebration event for the City of London Business Traineeship programme on Wednesday 12 September, at the Salesforce Tower in Bishopsgate, London.
The Brokerage helps young people from state schools in London access work experience, gain employability skills, and ultimately begin their careers through partnerships with employers. AAT partnered with them to take on seven interns who had just finished their A-Level exams in departments across the organisation, allowing them to learn how parts of the business such as HR, Marketing and Customer Services work, while earning the London Living Wage.
AAT Chief HR Officer Oliva Hill says:
“Our time with the interns was very valuable. We were happy to help them have an experience of work and hope we have taught them skills which they will be able to use in future. The staff members who worked with them also ended up learning a lot. We’re very happy to have received this award, and predict the interns will go on to achieve great things.”
Chief Executive of The Brokerage, Bridget Gardiner, says:
“We chose AAT as Employer Newcomer of the Year in recognition of the excellent induction process they put in place to welcome the interns, and for being a supporting, accommodating and welcoming organisation. This helped the interns to settle down quickly and enjoy the experience.”
